Distance Covered:

I wasn't an auspicious start: The lower jockey wheel on my rear mech was seized again. The jockey wheels are new. They've been used once before - on the Real Ale Wobble. Ask me if I'm still impressed with SRAM jockey wheels.

Judicious application of spray lube eventually managed to free it off.

4 weeks since I last managed to get on my bike. And it showed. That climb doesn't get any easier - 1hr 20mins to the top is not my greatest time! Did the freeride section, then back up to do the XC section.

Rob then chose to do the downhill course, I did the rest of the XC trail, meeting back up with him just by the last section of downhill. We both did the bottom section of downhill, then went back up to do the last downhill section of the XC trail. Excellent!!

Despite all the rain in the last few weeks, the trail is still incredibly dry. The only muddy sections are on the first bit of climb after leaving the car park and - very annoyingly - right at the very bottom, just as you're coming back into the car park with an otherwise fairly clean & dry bike :(

Stats:
17.9km in 3hrs 6mins elapsed (1hr 45mins moving).
39km/hr max speed
2077 calories burned.

The new Visitor Centre is open. Hooray!! Only 1 year late. But don't get too excited: Although the building looks great...
There is no bike service/repair/shop. They only have a few - often inappropriate - spare bits and pieces for sale (brake pads).
There don't seem to be any showers
There is only one urinal(??)
The cafe - whilst appearing to be new & functional has appalling service, being completely disorganised, takes 15 mins wait for a cup of tea, there was no food left other than 2 flavours of panini.
And this was on a really quiet Sunday. How it'll be on a busy Saturday is anyone's guess.

Hopefully, these are just start-up problems and it may improve. Personally, I'd like to show them the drop-off cafe & visitor centre at Glyncorrwg. That ought to give them a few ideas!
